The Beauty of Ao Dai

Ever since I got into art & photography, I have always been fascinated with Ao Dai, a Vietnamese long dress. It is simplistic and elegant. When made right it would gracefully contour to a woman body. It flows smoothly and doesn’t restrict body moment. In most women’s body type, wearing it will automatically make a woman look slim, elongated, demure, and greatly attractive. There mainly 2 types of Ao Dai: 1) Pure, solid white Ao Dai(s), which are traditionally worn by students. Many schools in Vietnam require female students to wear white Ao Dai. 2) Fashion or wedding Ao Dai(s), which are more elaborate, come in many different colors, and have a lot more design elements. The Ao Dai is the iconic symbol of Vietnam. Therefore, when visiting Vietnam you will see  that most coffee shops, hotels, stores, and restaurants often have female servers wearing Ao Dai. When I got started in photography, I have always wanted to work on the subject of Ao Dai. So finally, after befriending with Minh Chau, an Ao Dai designer in Saigon, Vietnam, we collaborated on a few projects with Ao Dai as the main subject. So here it is…my work on the Ao Dai. Hope you guys enjoy looking at these photos. They are just simply stunning…Feel free to share the post and make sure to hit LIKE at the end. 🙂
